Step 2 - Applications validation

Step 3 - EBSC Board review

Each application is reviewed by three (3) EBSC Board members. Applications are randomly allocated to evaluators with a special care to avoid conflict of interest, that is that an evaluator will never review a candidate from his/her home country. This is to keep the process as unbias and fair as possible. The EBSC Chairman has the specific task of moderating all evaluations and to settle any undecided cases.

There are at least two (2) reviews. At the end of each review, unsettled cases are discussed among the EBSC Board members. Additional information may be requested to applicants.

Step 4 - Election results

At the end of the second review, the EBSC Chairman validates all election results. The EBSC Office in turn contacts all candidates to inform them about the Board's decision. Each candidate receives a letter from the EBSC Chairman informing them of the Board's decision. In case a candidate is not elected, the Chairman explicits the Board's decision and may request additional information in case of appeal.
